Tawau has inter-district buses serving the regions surrounding the town. If you take a bus from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu it will take 8 hours. The starting point of the bus is from Regional Terminal Bas Tawau, while the drop-off point is at Jalan Tugu, Kota Kinabalu.
This Regional Bus Terminal cater for all inter-district buses arriving from the Kota Kinabalu including from Sipitang via Kota Kinabalu.
There is no bus from Tawau Town to Indonesia, simply because there is no road going there. But there are daily buses from Kuching City to Indonesia.
Long Distance Bus Terminal is beside the famous seafood stalls. And the new Mosque is 10 minutes walk from here. Here travellers board buses for Lahad Datu (150km away), Sandakan (360km) and Kota Kinabalu (560km).

For those travel from Tawau to Kuching by bus (its a long long journey), the journey end in Kuching Sentral, This regional bus terminal, 6 miles from Kuching city center. There is not direct bus from Tawau to Kuching. Passengers have to change bus at Kota Kinabalu and Miri.
